Urban Decay Naked Flushed

Urban Decay is one of my favorite brands to shop from and the NAKED line is no exception. I have the NAKED2 palette and I think it was a great $50 investment. Totally worth it. Then there’s the foundation, which I did a post on when it first came out. Since then I have tried others but I always go back to the NAKED. Its my holy grail of foundations. Needless to say, when the Flushed came out ($30) I had to have it.

Unfortunately, it is not all I hoped it would be. I don’t know if the product was mostly hype or it could just be better suited for lighter skin tones.  I feel like the bronzer and the blush don’t really show on my face.  I have to pack a bunch on and once I have enough, the shade of blush just doesn’t compliment me.  I do like the highlighter, but I’ve used better. I was sad because I thought for sure I’d love this. I don’t want to be completely negative because I am a big UD fan. There was one thing I did like about it and that was the size and packaging. It fits nicely in your purse and makes touch ups so easy.  I still want to try the NAKED Nail Polish Set and the BB cream as well.  Hopefully I won’t be let down.

In the meantime I will stick to these trusty products which never fail to leave me glowing.  Its a combination of the Orgasm

Illuminator from NARS, set with the Too Faced bronzer, Snow Bunnysilll

narssnow bunny

I’ve also been wanting to try the Butterfly Bronze/Blush Sun Blossom from POP Beauty.

I had been using the above combination for the last four years so I’m scared to venture off and try something new again in fear that I will be disappointed again. Has anyone tried it? If so let me know what you think! XO

California Dreaming

For Valentines Day my boyfriend surprised me with a weekend trip to California.  If you read in one of my previous posts I love California. I go quite often and it’s always been a place I’ve dreamt of living.

20130221-145304.jpgOne of the reasons I love going to California is because there are so many more places to shop than in El Paso.  I found some great deals at Zara and SYLK. I’ll do some OOTD posts on those.  Ever since we got back my boyfriend has been expressing wanting to move there with me. That would be a dream come true, I just can’t imagine being so far from my family. Hope everyone is having a good week. I am beginning to work on a post for 33 Knots.  As you all know, I do share my faith openly so this post is dear to my heart because it has a deeper message than just cute clothes and fancy makeup. I’ll have it up soon! Hope everyone is having a good week! xo

February Glam Bag

This months Glam Bag from Ipsy was a great one for eye products.  It came in a glossy black bag filled with mascara, liner, shadows and new to a lot of people like me, the lash cards.

MICA Eye Liner Pot: This is probably my favorite of the products we received this month.  This eyeliner glides onto your eyelids effortlessly with a good angled eyeliner brush.  You can make the line as thin or thick as your like and it has a very rich pigment so the black really makes your eyes pop. I have been using it everyday since I got it!

20130219-193950.jpgCoastal Scents Eyeshadows: The shades I received in my Glam Bag this month are great to add drama to your eyes.  They aren’t enough to create a full on smokey look but still add depth to my eyes.  This is the first time I try anything from Coastal Scents but I would definitely purchase from them again.

20130219-193954.jpgPixi Flawless & Poreless Primer: At first I wasn’t exactly sold on this product. When you put it on, it feels like a lotion not a primer. After using it I noticed how well my makeup stayed put with this primer. I would surely put this in the list of my favorite primers.

20130219-193959.jpgPOP Mascara: This little thing is something great to keep handy in your purse.  I am used to using volumizing mascara and this one was more of a lengthening, but it made my already long lashes look like falsies.  I also love that it didn’t clump any of my lashes.  I had been wanting to purchase a blush/bronzer palette from POP but this came first. I am impressed and look forward to trying more products from this brand.

20130219-194015.jpgLash Cards: This concept was interesting and one I had never heard of previously.  You basically just place the card on your eyelid as you apply mascara. I liked that all the dark marks the mascara leaves on your eyes sometimes when applying mascara.  I really didn’t notice any help with clumping.  While I thought this was a unique concept, I just feel as though it’s another step added to an already lengthy beauty routine, and it can be quite unneccessary.

20130219-193944.jpgWhat did you think of this month’s Ipsy Bag? Is anybody planning on attending the Ipsy event in Los Angeles in May? I was thinking of attending and another friend of mine wants to go. If you want more information on the event click here. Let me know if any of you plan on attending! XO

First Impressions: KHROMA

As Kim K would say, hey dolls!

Hope everyone had a good start to their weekends. Tonight I am staying in because I work in the morning and I have a paper due on Monday! I have been wanting to get my hands on something from the Kardashian KHROMA collection for so long! I finally stumbled upon it at Ulta in a tiny little section. It’s no wonder I’ve always strolled past it. Also, most of the collection was out of stock, which I’m hoping is a sign that the line is better than what it looks.

Personally, I expected so much more from the Kardashians. They are always spewing glitz and glamour and so not….. boring!!

When you are already as famous as the Kardashians, and you come out with a cosmetics line, it needs to make an even bigger impression because that much more is expected of them! To me packaging has a lot to do with a products and hey its okay! Aesthetics are important to women and have a lot to do with how we react to and actually desire a product. Especially for Libra women, which is why I am so surprised… ehem…Kim!! The packaging for these products equal plain and boring.

Still, in a similar way that people share a love hate relationship with the Kardashian Klan, despite my distaste, I went home with something. These lashes we’re a nice change for me because i usually wear exxagerated long ones with full volume. These were about the same length as my natural lashes but intensified them nicely. I would re-purchase. I still want to try the Nude Lip set just because I love a nude lip and Kim is legendary at nailing a smokey eye and perfectly sexy nude lip. In the mean time I picked up these lashes. What do you guys think? Have you tried the anything from the KHROMA line yet?

Thanks for reading! Check back soon to see who I’ve nominated for The Liebster
Award! Xo!

Back to School Beauty

The month of January brought me back into school and though I was excited to be back, I was not so excited to pay for it. Needless to say, tuition left me counting pennies. So instead of making one of my monthly visits to Sephora, I headed to Ulta. I love that Ulta has both high-end products and drugstore finds so you can mix and match while you shop.

Even though I think mornings are a beautiful time of the day, I am just not a morning person. If I have to sacrifice my hair looking like Mufasa for an extra 15 minutes of sleep I will not hesitate. That’s why I need products that I can apply when I’m pressed for time. Also, when I am at school I don’t get to crazy with my makeup. I like to keep it fresh, simple and pretty.

Here are a few products I picked up to keep me looking presentable at school! Each of them are all under $10, so you’ll still have money left to purchase your textbooks for class!

Beauty Balm: I have a very serious relationships with these things. Skin care and makeup in one, they’re genius! This one from Loreal is only about $8 and it has great coverage. I love how I can just swipe it on my face in a few seconds and know that I won’t scare anyone when I get to class! This is one of my favorite drugstore bb creams. I may just do a post on all my favorites but ill do that another day to keep this as short as possible.

Mascara: The I Love Extreme Volume Mascara by Essence is one of the most underrated affordable mascaras you can buy! It does the trick as far as volume, length and even curl are considered. Only 3.99 !

Concealer: While I normally don’t have a problem with acne on my skin, I definitely have a case of dark under eye circles. This NYX $4. concealer applies nice and creamy. I find pot concealers to work better for me than liquid or tube concealers. They blend better and don’t streak. It’s really good at making me look like I got a good nights rest, even if I didn’t.

Ulta Blending Sponge: I want to stress how much I love this for blending the concealer mentioned above. The Beauty Blender is a tad more expensive ($20) than this one, which was only about $5. I still want to try the Beauty Blender to see if there is a difference, but ill always know that when my funds are tight, this one does the trick! Seriously.

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter In Creme Brulee with Revlon Colorburst Gloss in Bronze Shimmer: These products are good for creating a nice nude lip, perfect for school. They also keep my lips moisturized which, I love.

Naked Basics. Naked2: Okay so I didn’t really purchase this one for back to school, I’ve had it for quite some time and I seriously use it everyday. Now, I might get some people mad by saying this but I really don’t know what the big deal is about the Basics palette. Yes the colors are nice. Could you find similar shades in another palette from a different line? Yes. I personally only like it for the size and how it conveniently fits in your bag. However, it simply does not compare to the Naked or Naked2 pallets. The shades are so beautiful and to me, a work of art. You can create any look needed with this palette and they’re so subtly sexy! Overrated? Maybe. But I think Naked2 deserves more love than the Basics. Can’t wait to get my hands on the Naked Polishes, the blush, bronzer, highlighting compact and the bb cream!

I’d love to know you’re school/work makeup routines! Feel free to share 🙂 XO!
